A luxurious home by Dublin’s majestic Phoenix Park, surrounded by leafy forestry and luscious parklands, provided a most rewarding opportunity for us to showcase the breadth of our service offer on this extensive, yearlong, renovation project.
Gifted in its remarkable location at the park gates, this client’s decision to entirely renovate and refurbish the existing property came with both challenges and opportunities, as our team led the full-scale project from ideation to turnkey finish, in the completion of this 3,500 square foot, four bedroom family home.
Working to the vision of our clients, for a modern, energy efficient and tech savvy family home with a classic contemporary style, we devised concepts based on world-class building, construction and design methods. The original property, built in 19XX, was extensively reworked to meet, and indeed, exceed, best-in-class energy and building efficiencies. Green and innovative methods for heating, hot water and ventilation were designed and installed, making this home a case study in BER standards.
New property and room layouts were presented and discussed, and all internal architectural features devised. Provisions were made for the best in European architraves, doors and windows. Recessing was developed in feature ceilings for ambient lighting, and crucially for window treatments. The ability to include these aspects from the get-go, ensured our design team could fulfil the best possible specifications and finishes for the interior design, despite this being a renovation.
Stepping through the front door, the welcoming entrance halls is both sophisticated and warm. Beaded panelling and a series of stylish wall lights adorn the walls, setting the tone for the style of this home, while to the right, an elegant walnut (?) stairway has bespoke decorative iron balusters, curved based steps, and a bound, velvet carpet runner. Cleverly disguised under stair storage makes this room functional as a cloakroom. The room size is maximised with glass panel sliding connector doors, a rich sweeping chevon floor, and a beautiful convex mirror.
The large, luscious garden to the back of the house is in view from the hallway, accessed via the expansive, open plan kitchen, living and dining space. Though big, the room is designed into zones, with different styles and formalities working together to create a great entertaining space for family, kids and adults alike.
The contemporary, shaker in-frame kitchen has a large island with a veined Carrera marble waterfall worktop. Mirrors behind the styled, open shelves amplify the size of the space and bounce light. The formal dining space nearby is richly designed with a bespoke bookcase beyond and feature chandelier. Steps down to the sunken TV lounge and kids play space are defined by a modern gas fire centrepiece, unique in its height and placement in the room. The room is bright, with the large door openings to the garden, skylights, and recessed ceilings allowing for ambient LED lighting in the evenings.
The style of the hallway is carried onto the landing, which serves not only as a corridor, but has a cosy reading nook, with a window bench adorned with cushions overlooking the Parkview.
The elegant Master Suite is designed with chic ebony toned wood and centres around a full height bespoke, upholstered headboard with integrated antique mirrors and wall lighting. This moody and beautiful tone is carried through on bedroom furnishing and is prominent in the walk-in wardrobe. The luxurious ensuite has a double vanity, walk-in shower and a sumptuous sucken bath by the window with a recessed TV, is the perfect place to relax in the evening.
Throughout this home, the furniture is designed and custom manufactured by Ventura’s team of craftspeople. We used a signature classic-style, using neutral schemes, bespoke joinery, contemporary furnishing, and luxury finishes, which complement the architectural style.
As is our style, fabrics and textiles play a crucial part of the classic design story, and we are proud to showcase many of Ventura’s Edit, our collection of the best and most luxurious materials and trims. Artwork throughout the house is by Irish landscape artist Ken Browne.
We provided input on external architecture decisions and all landscaping, to ensure consistency of design concept throughout all aspects of the renovation.
