Ireland's coastline is simply breath-taking, and it was our pleasure to be asked to help turn a new seaside property in picturesque East Cork into a spectacular family home.
The location of the estate overlooks the bay of the Celtic Sea and is within a stone's throw of the beach. This is where our clients will ride horses each morning with their kids, a huge inspiration for the design theme of this 5,500 square foot home.
An elegant, sophisticated aesthetic will include the tones of the sea, the coastline, and the countryside, and there will be bows to the equine, given the strong family passion and interest in horses and horse-riding. An adjoining apartment, connected by a glass structure that links the two buildings, will also have a complimenting luxury finish.
Stepping into this home, it's clear it has been laid out with family in mind. There is an abundance of space, with a series of formal and informal reception rooms, including a beautiful, unusually shaped, kitchen living dining room, with dual aspect coastal views. This impressive open plan space, with gorgeous vistas, caters for the family to relax and spend time together.
The natural colour scheme was inspired by the organic hues of the local landscape, which create a mood of calm throughout the house. When the sun is shining, the owners can open the doors wide and enjoy lunch on the terrace, with the colours of the interiors blending with the colours of the sea.
The home, over three floors, has ample ensuite bedrooms for the growing family, with guest bed and private office area. All the furniture and fittings were custom-made with quality materials, finishes and trims. We drew and redrew (!) every piece of joinery including built-in bookcases and wardrobes, guaranteeing to meet the needs of our client's large family storage and functional, while finishing the cabinetry in a rich, classic-contemporary look.
The entire home has a feeling of warmth and love, and while subtle, you cannot mistake the passion for horses, horse-riding and all things equine which is brought to life in our curated selection of artwork and accessories.
We completed the full design element of this project, including architectural detailing, to a turn-key finish. The project was delivered by our own project management team, handling contractors, subcontractors, trades, decorators, and installation crews. We hope our clients love the home as much as we do!
